Not exactly true, they havn't said no to it, in fact it seems like they might add online coop.heres a tweet they made not long ago.someone asked if online coop is on the roadmap, heres what beam team replied:'We realise coop is definitely a popular feature the community want added to the game. The current ‘couch’ coop gameplay has proven to be a great testing ground in developments for a future coop mode, but no official timeframe at this stage, but we will keep you in the loop.:)'.

I cant read this arguments against coop anymore, coop is awesome if you have a good friend or your wife to play with. Stop using the Story/immersion/atmosphere argument against coop. You DONT have to play coop, just let people enjoy it.
You are both right, but remember that changes that were needed for multiplayer also affect singleplayer, fx removing the need for sleep, some find it immersion breaking that sleep is now only a time passing thing:). Both players go to the schelter and vote to sleep and then both players skip the time.
